David Jamieson ran a Boss Mustang in the Production Touring Car class at a time when local products such as Falcons and Toranas ruled the roost in the Australian Touring Car Championship class.
It was a brave effort to take on the established stars who drove cars that benefited from factory backed homologation and development.
I don’t recall David racing the car away from his Melbourne base and only raced it for a short period of time around 1974. I remember that the car didn’t have the straight line speed of the top runners and usually ran mid pack. However the car certainly looked great on the circuit and made a change from the usual local fare. It was the last American car to compete in the ATCC class until the Camaros of Kevin Bartlett and Ron Dickson in 1979.
